In this episode, we talk a little about setting healthy boundaries in your small business. I know It's hard to set boundaries when you love your business, love helping your customers, and overall love what you do. Especially if you're a course creator, executive business coach, membership sites owner small business IT or Marketing consulting, or any of these business models where your goal is to help and serve others.

For us, boundary setting can be really difficult but setting healthy boundaries can also help with managing burnout and overall delivering better service to our clients and members.

A few episodes ago I talked about how SEO can help with overcoming Burnout and Overwhelm in your business and today I want to talk about how boundaries can help as well.

Boundaries are one of the most important things in a business especially in a small business where you can easily get burnt out overwhelmed because you’re often the one doing everything including answering messages, making content, doing the work, and serving clients it's easy to become overwhelmed and bogged down in your business.

I've recently had a few situations come up in my business that made me have to set some new boundaries and reevaluate some of the ones I had. I share some of those stories in this episode because I'm sure you’ll probably see and feel some of these stories happening in your own business. You may not even realize that you need to set some boundaries or your boundaries are being pushed.

This topic is important all year round but especially during this time of year. It gets it it’s hard when you love your client and you love your work. It’s easy to get lost and do it all the time, but there’s always gonna be a time when you don’t necessarily have it in you to do all the work, or maybe you are busy or just trying to enjoy some of the fruits of your labor and you’d like to maybe not have to work and not do so much work, and then you realize that because you didn’t set clear boundaries people are still calling you texting you sending you a friend request and a bunch other things online so.

In this episode you'll learn:
  • signs you need more or new boundaries in your busines
  • how boundaries help you with managing and overcoming burnout
  • some great executive business coaching tips on the types of boundaries to setting your business
  • how to communicate and enforce your boundaries effectively
  • most importantly how to stick to them so that you don’t fall into the overwhelmed and hating your business trap that happens when people don’t set the proper boundaries

A lot of business owners whether you are a service provider, course creator, or membership site owner we have a little coaching in us.

For years I resisted the coach title until I really started to learn what coaching is and how to use it to better serve my clients and members. In this episode, I invited my friend and one of my Coaches Kim McCarter on to talk about embracing coaching and using it in your existing business

I also started working with and joined Kim’s Self-Made Success system.  Kim is the coach to the coaches and really helps you to not just run a coaching business but really lean into your strengths and use them to help your clients get better results.

With that, I really wanted to bring Kim on to talk about all of the things around coaching, wealth, and how we use them to level up our businesses.

In this episode, Kim talks about:

  • how to show up uniquely as yourself in you business
  • How coaching and learning to coach can help service providers
  • How current coaches can further level up
  • How to identify what kind of coach you are (make sure you take the Quiz)
  • The mindset shift do you need to make in your business to get results
  • Why we need to normalize the conversations about wealth and wealth-building

You are definitely not going to want to miss Kim and my conversation on black wealth in America at the end (it’s like a bonus to the bonus episode).

If you've ever heard me speak about SEO then you've probably heard a little or a lot about how I hate WIX for SEO and I recommend people as soon as possible get over to WordPress, Shopify or Squarespace.

Naturally the next question I get from most entrepreneurs, course creators, and membership owners after I talk about making this move is how do I move my site, and will moving my site kill my SERP ranking and Search Engine Optimization efforts.

So I figured I would be a good SEO coach if I didn't have one episode on making this move and how to do without hurting your SEO or at least hurting it as little as possible.

And this just isn't for people going from Wix to Wordpress, but I give you tips for all platforms including info to help

  • save your SEO if change your domain
  • preserve SEO if you change host
  • recover as quickly as possible from SEO hits if you change from wordpress to shopify
  • And any other tips and warnings I could give you about minimizing the SEO impact or site changes.

MicroBlogging is creating small snippets of content and posting or publishing on a platform outside of your website. A lot of entrepreneurs have been microblogging for years on social and we don’t even recognize it.

If you’ve ever made a long Instagram or Facebook caption, done a series of Tik Tok ideas or reels, or even done one of those 5-10-part Twitter series; then you have been microblogging and didn’t even know it. Most coaches, course creators, and membership site owners don’t realize that the Social media content creation they are doing can be used for so much more.

This question actually came up a few months ago when I was interviewed by Racheal Miller on her Moolah Marketing page, and comes up a lot when I'm doing SEO coaching. So I decided to talk about it here.

In this episode of the Girl Get Visible Podcast, I talk to you about:

  • what is microblogging
  • How to leverage your long Social media content creation for SEO
  • How to get more traction for your quality content?
  • How to take the most advantage of your microblogging efforts?
  • Share some great microblogging examples that you can do in your business.
  • And most important What to do with those long Instagram captions and series in your IG Stories and Tik Toks you’ve been doing.

Check out today's episode for a bunch of great info on making the most of your social microblog content.

Conversations that use technical terms that typical business owners do not understand, are common. A prime example of this is the idea of ranking factors. Think to yourself as you are listening to this episode and ask, Do I know what a ranking factor is or why it matters. Business owners and entrepreneurs may not be familiar with ranking factors, because it is not always spoken about.

When using SEO as a strategy, having customers come to your site is important, but you are just beginning. If you are not meeting your business goals, such as increased sales or memberships, it could be because there are other factors you need to pay attention to.

Think of ranking factors as a search engine scorecard. You are constantly being graded based on your site's interaction with your customers. Depending on the ranking factor, the higher or lower it is, the more successful your site and content will be in your business goals. Google measures your site, by looking at factors, such as, your site’s relevance and popularity, your site’s speed and even how quickly someone clicks that exit button. In today’s episode, I talk about major ranking factors, why we should care about them and how to get factors into the right ranking.

  • Do you want to know how ranking factors affect your SEO?
  • Do you want to know how your website is ranking on search engines?
  • Are you interested in knowing tips to get into the right ranking?
  • Do you want your customers to stay and love your business, website, and products?

Then you’ve come to the right episode. Let’s get your site ranking!

Ya’ll, my bushes are gone and I am so upset! The absolute audacity.

So, my husband and I decided to focus on our home’s landscaping this year, guess who was really proud of our new budding bushes and growing vine! I was….. This was going to be our home makeover and I could not wait to see what it was going to look like next year. But then, everything took a turn when I went out to check on my bushes and only one was left, with three small leaves.

As I was going through a world of emotions, in true Akilah fashion, I remembered that this feeling I was having was familiar. As a business owner, we have all experienced the feeling of our expertise, product, or service being looked over by others. The feeling where you’ve worked so hard to get your business where it is today, and still no interviews, limited sales, and not enough traffic to your site. Just like my bushes that were not “seen” and mistakenly “removed”, entrepreneurs can sometimes be overlooked by others!

As an SEO expert and coach, majority of my business is built on the foundation of VISIBILITY for myself, my clients and my community. *cues theme music* In this episode, I talk about how to grow visibly to your customers, search engines and others. You know how much time, effort and sacrifices you’ve made within your business, but that does not mean other people are seeing that through their own lens. It’s not about what’s visible to you, it’s about what’s visible to others. So I have a few questions for you:

  • Are you uncertain about the visibility of your business?
  • Do you think your business and expertise is being overlooked?
  • Do you feel like you just want to give up on that business, podcast or even blog?
  • Interested in tips on ways to grow more visibly?

This episode will give you some laughs, tips, and motivation to get your head back into the game. In all honesty, after going through my world of emotions, I came to the conclusion that my bushes were just not visible enough --- let’s figure out if that’s the same with your business too.

Grab your sunscreen, we are going to the beach!

It is finally summer, my favorite season of the year. The weather is nicer, my son is out of school, there are more events happening and oh yes… vacations! In this episode, I am talking about some tips and tricks that I use to make sure I am having fun with my family and friends, while still managing my business.

Many coaches, course creators, and entrepreneurs need help with creating a membership site and recurring revenue business. Recurring revenue model is important because having a membership builds a sustainable business that allows you to make revenue and serve with less stress.

In today’s episode, I talk with guest Stu McLaren about how to build recurring revenue businesses with membership and subscription businesses.

Memberships is a widely used sustainable business model and practice, but keeping members and not getting overwhelmed creating content every month is always a challenge for membership site owners.

I've been a membership owner for almost 4 years now. I started with my retailers’ membership and shifted to my current SEO membership.

Many people hear about building membership and think all they need to do is throw their content on a membership site on WordPress or membership site on Squarespace and they will magically make money every month.

I learned from our guest today Stu McLaren that a membership site needs strategy and to build a community to continue to grow and thrive.

We talk with Stu McLaren the Owner of Tribe and Master of Memberships at Tribe.  Stu McLaren has been running and working with memberships sites for a few decades, starting as one of the founders of membership plugin Wish List members, working with Michael Hyatt on platform University, and now he is the force behind 1000s of memberships working with membership owners in his Tribe program since 2016.

We had a great time talking about recurring revenue model and how it will build a sustainable business that allows you to make revenue and serve with less stress

Here's what you'll learn in this episode:

  • how to create a membership site that keeps members engaged and excited?
  • How Stu use affiliates and JVs to help with his Tribe launch
  • What business will have a lot of success with membership sites
  • the truth about how and what you can price your membership site
  • how to start a membership even if you don’t have a large audience?

When you hear about SEO, the ending tagline is always just, it attracts more traffic to your site. But I am here to tell you that SEO is much more than that. In this episode, I talk about how SEO attracts the right traffic to your site, grows your brand, and makes residual income.

When you have good SEO, it prepares people to buy from you. It helps people along their buying journey when they are checking out your products, so it’s important we focus on doing this process right. I am always looking for a way to increase my clientele and sales, without having to become a salesperson, and I am sure there are other entrepreneurs who feel this same exact way.

After years of studying, using, and teaching SEO, I have found 5 reasons why having good SEO is essential to your business. I am sharing them within this episode so that you can win too.

  • Do you want to attract the right traffic to your site?
  • Do you want to educate people on what you have to offer?
  • Are you looking for an easier way to introduce your offers?
  • Do you think people would like and trust your products but don’t know how to get them to see?
  • Are you trying to gain more traction and be more shareable on social media?

Are you on Clubhouse or do you know what Clubhouse is?

Clubhouse is an invitation-only, audio-chat social networking platform that has taken over the internet!

I have been engaging on clubhouse for quite some time and have had the amazing opportunity of hosting rooms, being a moderator and cultivating relationships with clients and other entrepreneurs. For this episode, I wanted to give you LIVE access into my very own Clubhouse room….. and the category is: Can your business thrive on this platform?

Being that Clubhouse is such a buzz, I have seen some really great reviews and success stories, but I would be remiss to not share that the experience of success is not shared by everyone. Some business owners are really struggling to see the value of using this platform. In this episode you will hear some real feedback from business owners that use or have tried to use Clubhouse as a strategy to support their business objectives and goals.

Being that this was not a typical podcast, but a LIVE streaming of a Clubhouse room, I was successfully able to have 4 moderators and 16 guests share their experiences. Each moderator and guest provided an introduction of themselves and their business. We had quite a mixture, from product based businesses to service based businesses. Thank you to everyone who generously provided amazing tips, strategies and experiences.

  • Are you curious to know if EVERY business can thrive on Clubhouse?
  • Are you curious to know what NOT to do on Clubhouse to actually thrive?
  • Do you have interest in gaining valuable tips/strategies to get started?

If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions, listen to this episode! We are here to provide you some serious tea. So, do I think Clubhouse can help all businesses thrive --- my short answer is YES, and this podcast episode explains why.

Make sure to show some support and love to all the businesses that were introduced in this episode!!
