Many entrepreneurs need help with creating podcast show notes that add value and increase help to increase their downloads. Podcast show notes are important because creating good show notes will help your episodes get found in the search engine and drive traffic to your website.

In today's episode, I walk you through my podcast show notes template and I go in-depth about how entrepreneurs can benefit from creating podcast show notes with SEO in mind.

This the process I've used to get over 113k downloads even though I've only had 73 episodes. These downloads have been largely in part due to the SEO and show notes process I've created that continues to get episodes found and downloaded long after they have been published.

I thought this was important to talk about in this episode because Show notes are one of the main ways people find new podcasts to listen and good shows will help you grow your podcast downloads much fasters.

Here's what you'll learn in this episode:

  • what you should put in your show notes?
  • Why you shouldn’t use podcast transcripts in your show notes?
  • how to write show notes that increase downloads?
  • the big mistakes podcasters make with their podcast show notes

“We do hard things well” - Excerpt from Stephanie Arnold

Our guest comes today, with a wealth of experience in journalism, strategic coaching, content creation and editorial architecture. Stephanie Arnold, CEO of Wash Creative Strategies is not only a fellow business owner, but is also my friend and sorority sister. I was very excited to get her on the show today, to speak about visual identity, finding your purpose, her podcast, and her book that should be coming out this month!

A lot of times business owners and entrepreneurs struggle with their visual identity and their brand. This struggle can reduce your chances of visibility and being found by your intended audience. Stephanie shares with us the solution, which is understanding the importance of your business’s visual identity and finding your purpose. So, let’s dive into the business of creating YOUR brand.

No matter the stage your business is in, you can always work on solidifying your brand. Our wonderful guest, Stephanie Arnold talks about one of the most important strategies to creating your brand, which is clearly identifying your brand's identity. This includes being consistent with your colors, logos and typography, so that it resonates with your audience when they are searching for you.

Also, it is important to remember that content creation is a business and there is not one single way to be successful in how you create content to be successful in your business. Stephanie talks about her podcast, The Business of, which touches on realizing the creativity of others and highlighting the unique ways they have became influential or successful. This information can be a useful resource in seeing the various different ways to create content.

Lastly, Stephanie opens up about her upcoming book, Break Up to Come Up: 8 Lessons to Navigate any relationship like a boss, which provides a first look into her personal life and how her experiences are relevant to her business. As an entrepreneur trying to create your brand, it is important to remember that everything in your life is connected, from your purpose, your business, and your personal relationships. At some point you have to identify what does not relate with your brand & purpose.

So think about this:

  • Are you having trouble with the branding of your business?
  • Is your brand’s identity clearly identified?
  • Are you concerned about your visibility to your audience?
  • Have you reinvested in yourself and business

The information provided by Stephanie would provide applicable resources and examples to help with the successful creation of your brand.

Within this episode, we also spoke about some of Stephanie Arnold’s recommendations and favorites:

HEY GUYS - We’re Back!

After coming from a mini summer break, I couldn’t wait to dive into this topic about passive income. As we start to emerge and embrace what is considered the “new normal”, entrepreneurs and business owners are becoming more interested in different ways to earn more income.

My most recent conversations with some clients and even my own coach, have all been around passive income. To put it bluntly, the reason we may not be successful with passive income is because our mindset needs to change. We have this mindset that we need to always do more, which potentially cause business burnout.

Entrepreneurs and business owners, like myself, tend to struggle with the thought that we must be actively creating something new or working a lot of hours to make the income we want. Have you ever thought about  instead, focusing  on maximizing the content and products you already have?

Think about these questions as you dive into this topic:

  • Are you ready mentally to start making passive income?
  • Have you taken a step back and analyzed your business to see where you could maximize what you already have?
  • Did you know SEO is a great way to potentially earn passive income?

Remember. Do not focus on the quantity of what you do, but more importantly the quality.  Quality of your content, your products and your business.  You got this!

In preparation for our next Girl Get Visible Workshop (https://girlgetvisible.com/workshop) I interviewed Mischelle Oneal of https://masteringyourmonday.com/ about her SEO journey and how she's been using it to win with content creation, pitching, and even creating her products on MemberVault.

Many things have taken place in 2020 already we've had near war, global pandemic, more killing of African Americans like George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and now a full-on Fight against Racial injustice movement.

As content creators and business owners, this constant change and upheaval present a very hard question "what do I say". It also heightens the need for racial awareness and sensitivity in our communication.

We can't ignore and continue with business as usual and we can't go all-in forget our purpose in this world so what do we do?

In this episode, I take a step at giving you some guidance around creating content, posting on social, and just overall messaging during these times.

I break into 5 parts:

  • what to say in your content
  • what to say in on your social
  • what to when you are at a complete loss
  • when to stop talking
  • when and how to admit you said the wrong things

And I share some recent stories with influencers where this communication has gone terribly wrong.

I've also joined the Podcasters for Justice Campaign and share important resources on how you can help and support the fight again racial injustice.

Today, I will be answering a great question I received: “Is it possible to rank within a specific demographic?”

The answer is – YES!

A lot of times we have discussed SEO and why it is important to target your audience, but has anyone touched on how to actually do this? We are now using multiple social media platforms for our businesses, so we need to think about targeting strategies to fit the audience on each platform.

As an entrepreneur, you have a responsibility to answer questions your audience have and provide them with the solutions they need. The only way you can successfully do this is by getting to know more about your demographic. This will lead to higher, quality rankings.

  • Are you concerned about the ranking of your site and business?
  • Do you want to feel more of a connection with your specific demographic/audience?
  • Are you fully aware of your audiences’ wants and needs?
  • Are you concerned about how to target your audience on various social media platforms?

In this episode, I will be providing tips and examples on how to target a specific demographic using SEO and why it is important for your business.

Let’s get targeting!

In today’s episode we will be looking into the different ways, you can get help with your SEO.

So far in our 3-part series, I have provided you the differences between business writing (copy, content, SEO) and the knowledge to determine when you should hire an expert to help you. Now let's finish the series discussing the types of SEO experts and SEO services you can use. So let’s talk about SEO Coaches, SEO consultants and SEO services. A consistent struggle I recognize entrepreneurs go through is not asking for the right SEO help. For example, a lot of people make the mistake of asking for an SEO consultant or requesting SEO services, but really want an SEO coach. By the end of this episode, you should be able to decide which expert is beneficial to hire for your business.

  • Have you decided that you would like to hire an SEO expert, but not sure where to start?
  • Are you confused on the difference between an SEO Coach and an SEO Consultant?
  • Do you know of any SEO services?

These questions are really important to think about as an entrepreneur and small business owner, so here is the key in unlocking the right SEO help!

Are you interested in starting your very own podcast?!

Below is the episode I mentioned, where I talk about things you should know before starting your own show. Check it out!

https://girlgetvisible.com/should-you-start-your-podcast-now-things-you-you-want-to-know-before-starting-your-show/?fbclid=IwAR11jLzgTR01BkRcJlw_LSoUcP2NRAqvckNf1nOQ0F-z6RiiAKXe18d7Jyo

May 3, 2020

Today’s episode will be part 2 of our current 3-part series. I will be introducing crucial signs of when it is best to hire an SEO expert. Examples of SEO experts are, SEO writers or SEO coaches, which can be helpful for your business. BUT, before you decide to hire an SEO expert, you may need to pause and think about this……

SEO done right today, is not just about using a lot of keywords and writing articles/blogs. While this might generate traffic, it may not generate sales because you really don’t know if you are connecting with your business and customers. Before you can hire an SEO expert, you need to make sure that your VOICE and your BRAND is already built.

  • Are you an entrepreneur or small business looking for SEO help?
  • Is SEO confusing or frustrating to you, so you are now ready to hire an SEO writer or coach?
  • Are you struggling to connect your voice to your business?

If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions, you are on the right episode and I am here to help!

In need of watching part 1 of our 3-part series (Episode 60), check it out here: https://girlgetvisible.com/the-battle-copy-vs-content-vs-seo/

Bonus: I will be mentioning a few resources to start your SEO journey. Links are below for your convenience.

Apr 30, 2020

Welcome to part 1 of a 3-part series!! We will be discussing the difference between a copywriter, a content writer and an SEO specialist, in this episode. This is particularly important for when you are looking to expand your team for your business. Copy, Content and SEO –  all three of these areas are extremely important, however in business we tend to focus on one area more than the other. Why does everyone seem to focus on the copywriting part of their business, and not on their content or SEO?

  • Are you consistent with your podcast episodes, but still are not hitting your download goals?
  • Do you write a lot of blog posts, but still no one can find it?
  • Are you promoting your business non-stop , but your sales do not match?

Copy is your sales/marketing, Content is your meat and potatoes and SEO is your secret sauce. You need all three ingredients to be successful in making this work. You do not want to be all copy and no content; all excitement, with no meat and potatoes. You also do not want to be all meat and potatoes, with no way of tailoring that content to the right audience at the right time. You will always have one unhappy customer or no continuous customers!

Not knowing the difference between copy, content and SEO and how it applies to your business, can be the reason why you are not where you need to be. Let’s get visible!

Apr 8, 2020

At a time such as this, where a lot of things are happening in the world, the chances of you burning out as a business owner/entrepreneur has increased. As a business owner and entrepreneur myself, I felt that it was extremely important to share tips on how I've managed to not fall into the burnout hamster wheel using, you guessed it ------ SEO! I want to provide helpful insight to you in this moment, as a coach and fellow business owner.

Burnout can be seen as (1) feelings of energy depletion or exhaustion and/or (2) increased mental distance from one’s job, or feelings of negativism related to one’s job (World Health Organization).

Our business is our job and we have to make sure that we conserve our energy, focus on our mental health and be proactive with targeting feelings of negativity towards our business. Burnout does not happen at a certain success level and it does not choose the person it wants to target, it just happens.

  • Do you ever just feel overwhelmed?
  • Do you ever feel like you have lost interest in your business or clients and do not know why?
  • Do you know what burnout is and what it feels like?
  • Have you ever wondered how SEO can manage, prepare and maintain your business against burnout?

In this episode, I touch on each of these areas with examples as to why it's important to focus on ways to combat burnout, before it is too late.

My SEO Workbook is discussed in this particular episode because it provides all the necessary tools to achieve the goals of SEO, which ultimately is the leverage needed to avoid burnout. Let’s make the first step to transform your business!

You can get a copy of My SEO Workbook at https://girlgetvisible.com/my-seo-workbook-grab-your-copy/ or on Amazon.com.

Mar 22, 2020

In this episode of the Girl Get Visible Podcast, we will be discussing ways to manage your content for SEO and how to boost your business growth. As I search through social media platforms and speak with my clients, there is a problem of really great content being lost in the ripples of the quick and “dirty” platforms. Dirty not in the sense of unclean, but in the sense of us continuously using UNSUSTAINABLE platforms as our way to engage with our audience.

The reason your business cannot get the support, the traffic or make the income you want, is because we are not adding content on sustainable platforms. We create content, without strategically deciding on where to put content first, which is where we make the greatest mistake.

Sustainable platforms like websites or blog posts will boost your business and increase its success. So, we should spend more time taking advantage of these platforms, then share our content for the world to consume.

  1. Are you having difficulty with growing your traffic or getting your content out for the world to see?
  2. Do you create amazing content on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter but it always just disappears?
  3. Are you tired of engaging with your clients, but not seeing any sustainable profits from it?
  4. Are you following all the different SEO strategies and still do not understand why your business is not where you want it to be?

We get real in this episode and provide the answer to the questions above!

Check out this Book:

In this episode I talk about managing profits and I do mention a really great book to look into!

Profit First: Transform your business from a cash-eating monster to a money-making machine, written by Mike Michalowicz is a self-help classic for entrepreneurs. It provides simple and counterintuitive cash management solutions that will help you break out of the “feast and famine” mode, another topic discussed briefly in this episode.

Mar 4, 2020

A lot of people know about the imposter syndrome, BUT did you know there is another lingering syndrome out there, that can also affect your business.
In this episode, I will be speaking about what I call “the other syndrome” and providing a few examples and tips of what to do, to overcome it. This will be extremely helpful when you are working on different areas of SEO and your business, whether it is for links, pitching and even keywords.

Are you consistently questioning your craft and comparing it to other businesses?

Do you find yourself lost in what I call paralysis analysis, where you spend most of your time trying to figure out (ANALYZE) if you’ve done something right?

Do you have a fear of taking a chance or even starting over?

If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions or have other questions circulating in your mind right now, this is an episode you need to listen to. We are going to talk briefly about this “other syndrome”, also known as, the “AM I DOING IT RIGHT” syndrome, realize its symptoms and find solutions to stay far away from it.
A book I recommend in this episode is called OWN IT: The Power of Women at Work by Sallie Krawcheck. One of the most powerful points in this book is the idea that we are afraid to QUIT, which stops us from taking chances. Listen to hear more about my point of view on this, and how it relates to the “AM I DOING IT RIGHT” syndrome. Make sure to check out this book!
